Dragon Village (Kampung Naga)

Kampung Naga is a village inhabited by a group of people who are very strong in holding the relics of ancestral customs. This will be obvious differences when compared with other communities outside of Kampung Naga. Kampung Naga community living in an institution that is conditioned in an atmosphere of simplicity and traditional wisdom inherent environment. Kampung Naga is administratively located in the region Neglasari, District Salawu, Tasikmalaya District, West Java Province.

Location of Kampung Naga is not far from the highway that connects the city with the city of Garut Tasikmalaya. The village is located in a fertile valley, with the boundary region, west of Kampung Naga is limited by the sacred forest in the forest because there are people in Kampung Naga ancestral tomb. The form of buildings in Kampung Naga same as houses, mosques, Patemon (meeting hall) and rice. The roof is made from sago palm leaves, coconut leaves, or as a cover injuk bumbungan. The walls of houses and other buildings, made of woven bamboo (chamber). Meanwhile, the building doors are made of rattan fiber and all the buildings facing North or South. Besides a neat pile of stones with the layout and natural ingredients is the hallmark of the architecture and ornaments because of the Dragon Village.

In the field of public art, Kampung Naga has taboo. Taboo to take performing art forms from outside the village of Naga such as puppet show, dangdut, martial arts, and other arts that use similar instrument goong. While the artistic heritage which is the people in Kampung Naga is calung, Terbangan, Angklung, Beluk, and Rangkong. However, residents of Kampung Naga is allowed to see the show Puppet or other art from outside the village of Naga.


As is also customary Baduy Banten, residents of Kampung Naga does not allow goods or modern equipment into Kampung Naga. So if you enter the village of Naga areas will not hear the radio voice steady melodious music, but it certainly will hear the sounds of insects and frogs when the sun will set.
