Puppet Show ( Wayang Golek )

Wayang Golek (Puppet show)  is one of the distinctive arts of Sunda land which is very popular. The word "wayang" is often in connecting with the "bayang(shadow)" it is closely related with the wayang kulit (shadow puppets ) are usually played by using the screen. So that is seen by viewers is that there are shadows on the screen.
There is also an opinion that the word comes from the word wayang, wayang means reflects or shadow of the side of human life in general.

Wayang Golek, there are two kinds of them Wayang Golek  Cepak ( puppet show flat) and the puppet show prototype. Marionette puppet played by  Dalang (a puppeteer ) as a leader who once sang suluk show, voicing antawacana, set gamelan set of songs and others.

As general storyline puppet, Wayang Golek  in the show also usually have a play-act and carangan strains originating from the Ramayana and Mahabharata stories using Sundanese language Sundanese gamelan accompaniment (salendro), which consists of two saron, a Pekinese, a selentem , one device boning, boning rincik one device, one device kenong, a pair of gongs (kempul and goong), plus a set of drums (a drum and three kulanter Goon), xylophone and fiddle.

This way we can see from some of the activities in the community such as when there is celebration, a good celebration (feast ) in the context of circumcision, marriage and others sometimes accompanied by a Wayang Golek performances.
In addition, Wayang Golek was also often functioned as sufenir / keepsake typical Sunda land.
